The E2MQ: Chick Flick Quiz

It saw the undoing of a giant apeman in a 1933 movie, but this building features prominently in three serious chick flicks.

Reference #1 comes in a 1939 romantic film starring Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer.

Again it takes center stage in a 1959 remake starring Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant which is considered the most romantic film of all time.

In 1993, Nora Ephron cast Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in the leading roles in the more-recent and very successful remake.

Then just a year later, husband and wife team, Annette Bening and Warren Beatty, starred in a flop remake that reverted to the original movie title.

And in 1999 even Bollywood gave this plot a try with their own version starring Manisha Koirala and Aamir Khan. This movie also flopped.

Easy questions: What’s the building, when was it built, and what are the six referenced movies?

Tougher question: This building’s exterior lighting system can produce color schemes marking various celebrations and recognitions. By our count, we’ve found over 15 lighting combinations and more than 30 different commemorations. We’ll give you one example: RED and GREEN for the Christmas holiday season. How many others can you describe?

(BTW, the color sequence should be upwards from street level.)

Two prizes this week:

1. The first person giving correct answers to all the EASY questions gets a prize, and

2. The first person giving at least 20 correct responses to the TOUGHER question also wins a prize.
